2D view

Switch to a flat, top-down drafting view.

The 2D view locks the camera flat to a principal plane — Top (the build plate) by default, or any of the six standard views — and disables orbit, so lines stay true and nothing skews with perspective. Switch which plane you are viewing from the plane picker under the cube; each side view also seats work on that plane, so reference images, sketches, and new shapes land on it. It is handy any time you want a clean drafting view: tracing a reference image, sketching precisely, or checking alignment. It is a view mode only; it changes nothing about the model.

  1. Flip the 3D / 2D toggle under the view cube to switch to a flat orthographic view.
  2. The camera goes flat and orthographic — orbit is off, so you only pan and zoom.
  3. Choose Top / Front / Right / Back / Left / Bottom from the plane picker under the cube to switch sides; flip the toggle back to 3D to leave.
