OwlCAD is a print-aware 3D modeler with parametric solids, sketch-to-extrude, fillets and AI-assisted generation. Model, measure, repair and export STL, 3MF, OBJ, GLB, STEP or DXF. Nothing to install.
Free to use · Private by default · Runs in your browser · Start without an account
Everything you need to take an idea from a blank build plate to a print-ready file.
Box, cylinder, sphere, cone, torus, tube, pyramid, wedge, rounded box and 3D text, plus parametric gears, threads and fasteners. Union, subtract and intersect them non-destructively; tweak a dimension and the whole model rebuilds, powered by the Manifold engine in a Web Worker.
Draw a 2D profile on the build plate and pull it straight up, revolve it 360°, twist it into a helix, sweep it along a path, or loft between profiles. Round edges with fillets or chamfers, and hollow any part into a printable shell.
Describe a part and get back a parametric node tree with live dimensions, not a locked mesh. Sculpted-mesh generation is there for organic work. Included with OwlCAD Pro.
Position parts relative to each other with mates, articulate a joint, and scrub the motion to confirm it moves and fits before you print. Pull the assembly apart into an exploded view, and take a bill of materials with quantities, filament weight, and cost out as CSV.
Measure the model itself, not just points you place: edge length, hole radius and diameter, true arc length, face area, angle, and the smallest gap between two parts. Set a datum plane, axis, or point on a face and it keeps following that face as the model changes.
Publish a model with the parameters you choose, and anyone can adjust the dimensions, counts, and text with sliders in the browser, then download their own print-ready version. No OpenSCAD required.
Drop in a reference photo and model on top of it, calibrated to real dimensions. Switch to a true orthographic 2D view locked to any plane, and sketch or trace directly on any face of the model.
Work in true millimeters against printer profiles for Ender 3, Prusa, and Bambu Lab. Auto-orient, scale to fit the build volume, check that meshes are watertight, repair geometry before it reaches your slicer, and see what the print will weigh and cost in filament first. If a part is simply too big for the bed, cut it across X, Y or Z into halves that key back together.
Import existing models: units are detected and corrected on the way in, and a 3MF keeps its colours and object names. Export clean STL, 3MF, OBJ, GLB, solid STEP, SVG or DXF, ready for any slicer, CAD tool, laser cutter or CNC.
Projects are private by default. Work autosaves as you go, both in this browser and to your cloud workspace, with version history you can roll back. Signing in is what lets you reach it from another device. Read-only share links, page embeds and comments are all there when you want them, and off until you do.
Open the editor and drop in a primitive or sketch a profile. No install, no account required to begin.
Combine solids with booleans, round edges with fillets, pattern and mirror parts, and dial in exact dimensions in millimeters with snapping gizmos.
Pick a printer, auto-orient on the plate, verify the mesh is watertight, check what it will weigh and cost, then export straight to your slicer.
Describe a part and OwlCAD’s parametric mode returns a real node tree — primitives, booleans, and transforms with every dimension still live. Change 30 mm to 32 mm and the part rebuilds; undo it like any other edit. Sculpted-mesh generation is a click away when the shape only has to look right. Generation is part of OwlCAD Pro.
OwlCAD runs a hosted MCP server, so Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Cursor can build parametric parts directly on your account — authoring a real node tree, running it through the CAD kernel, rendering it to check its own work, and handing back a print-ready file plus a project you can open and edit. It works with any MCP client and spends no AI credits. Connecting one is part of Pro.
