Clearance / fit

Grow or shrink a part by a set gap so mating parts fit.

Clearance / fit offsets a solid’s surfaces by a fixed amount so parts that have to mate — a lid in a box, a peg in a hole — actually fit once printed. A positive gap grows the part (oversize a hole-cutting tool by +0.2 mm for a looser hole); a negative gap shrinks it (undersize a peg by −0.2 mm for a press fit). It is a per-feature parameter, not a material system — printers and filaments vary, so pick a gap that suits yours (0.2–0.3 mm is a common starting point). Like Round and Hollow it stays parametric and reversible.

  1. Select a single solid.
  2. Open Modify → Clearance / fit.
  3. Set the gap in the Properties panel — positive to grow the part, negative to shave it back.
